Together with the free Gardena smart App, for smartphones and tablets (iOS / Android), individual watering schedules can be programmed. A beginner-friendly wizard guides the user through the functions of the App in an understandable way and allows individual adjustments. The precise and compact smart Sensor measures the moisture of the soil directly at the roots of the plant: exactly where needed. The measured values for the moisture and ground temperature obtained by the sensor are sent via the internet directly to the App on the smartphone or tablet via smart Gateway, the central core of the Gardena smart system. The smart Water Control, which is installed directly at the tap, is responsible for irrigation, and allows the programming of individual watering schedules at specific times or on specific days of the week. With the sensor's measurements, it is possible to irrigate according to demand and economically, as the intelligent system only irrigates the garden if the soil becomes too dry (this prevents flower beds from being over-watered after long periods of rain). Watering can also be triggered manually via the smart Water Control, at the touch of a button. The frost alarm is particularly helpful in winter, as it warns of frost and low temperatures (the App's hibernation mode can be used to pause the watering schedule during winter). The smart Sensor and the smart Water Control are powered by 2 or 3 AA batteries, which allow safe operation over a garden season. The Smart Sensor Control Set from Gardena can be expanded with other devices from the smart system.
